New Media IA

 The New Media course is by far my favorite among all courses for this semester.Before lectures for this course began,I basically saw New media as just social media apps which I use everyday…little did I know there was more to it than just that.I must say that my mindset has changed so much about New Media and it’s impact on me as an individual as well as the society as a whole.Below are three things I learnt from this course that has impacted my life greatly.

      -I learnt that New media is a great part of our everyday lives.I realized how much New media has an influence on public opinion and decisions individuals make.As a result of this,I learnt that information verification or fact checking is vital for we as upcoming journalists because what we put on New Media platforms can determine the actions of people all over the world.Because of its universality,people worldwide can also have access to its content and hence the need to always share the truth only so that good decisions can be made.


-Secondly, this course has made me aware that whatever I post on New media apps today, remains forever and so there is the need for me to be mindful when posting contents or even making comments on posts.This is due to the characteristic of New media that never erases or forgets what we post.Digital footprints are very important in my life as just an individual and also for the person I want to become, and negative digital footprints will only tarnish my image or even rid me of an opportunity I’ve always wanted.Therefore I’ve learnt to be more intentional about what I post online because I want to protect my personal brand.



-Lastly,I’ve come to appreciate  the convenience New media gives me.As a student ,it’s vital for me to be abreast with daily news and current affairs .However due to lecture times and the hectic traffic to and fro,I mostly miss out on News broadcasted on the television.But thanks to New media ,today I can sit anywhere and have access to the news.And because most media houses have also adapted digitalization,I can always catch up on news I missed during the day or even the week whenever I want to.This has made News or information consumption very seamless.




2.Knowing all these has shaped my perception about new media much differently before I took this course.Below are some of them;

-Now,I have become very mindful and intentional about my footprints on the Media or the content I post on Mew media apps.This is because I want to build a solid brand for myself  from now.


-Also,I have become very analytical about information I consume from New media.Knowing well that New media messages or content plays a great part in our daily decisions…I have learnt to always verify information before consuming it.


Lastly,I have come to appreciate New media better because I know now that it’s not all about WhatsApp and Instagram but also I can blog just like all the bloggers who I once thought were doing something so great that I couldn’t do.

Recap of Week four’s Lecture

 The fourth lecture of the New Media course was on the 20th of November,2025 at 9am to 10am.I joined the class about fifteen minutes after the class commenced and I was just in time because my lecturer had just began addressing issues we had with the creation of our blogs and social media platforms.So many concerns were raised by my colleagues , some of which were the fact that they couldn’t create personal blogs ,others had challenges creating Instagram pages and some others were confused as to how to go about posting their campaigns on their pages as well as tagging our lecturer on X at the same time submitting their URLs on the LMS platform.Miss Dentaa, our lecturer however addressed all these issues and before long ,class was over even though we couldn’t execute this weeks lecture.In all,I had a nice time learning.

Lecture Week6

 Wednesday mornings always feel better with Miss Dentaa’s lectures.This week…we learnt about how New media has become a part of our everyday lives.New media like WhatsApp,Instagram,TikTok amongst others have changed the way people think, play, learn and even work.
